Thank you Mom for making April 20th my Special Day April 20, 2011
If we think about it, our lives would not begin without our parents. I was looking through some paperwork (no not the piles on my desk that were recently posted on Facebook) and discovered my birth certificate. I paused to think about many of my childhood memories and to ponder on where it all began. Mom and Dad were 24 and 25 years of age, when I was born at Letterman Army Hospital, in San Francisco @ 11:38 AM. Dad was in the Air Force and we lived (well not yet for me) in Petaluma, CA. An excited, but scarey time for the both of them. A new daughter to call their own. Oh boy was their lives going to change. But I always hope they looked at it as the best time of their lives. Hey had to put that in...lol... I am sure there were days where you thought, "What were we thinking". Mom sent me a birthday card the other day and I thought the words meant so much. It went like this (taken from Carlton Cards):
FOR MY DAUGHTER
From the day you were born, I've wanted to give you a wonderful life and protect you from anything I thought could hurt you.
Along the way I've worried a lot, and sometimes I still do--we both know that!
But it's only because I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
And now you're creating your own path,
living your life
with the courage and grace
to handle whatever
comes your way.
I just want you to know that I couldn't
be more proud of you,
and I couldn't love you more.
Thank you Mom for guiding me in the right direction in life. I know my thoughts, ideas and just who I am is because of you. Dad I know you have been watching over us and just wish you could be with us and me on my special day. How we all love this day in so many ways, but would like to stop the aging process. Where did my 20's, 30's, 40's and early 50's go? It has not always been easy but I cherish every minute of my life. Thank you everyone for all your birthday wishes. But most of all I want to thank you MOM for the best 50+ years. Life is special so live it to the fullest.
